

Matthew Achtymichuk – Editor-In-Chief
Matthew Achtymichuk is Editor-in-Chief for the Western Annual Report. Matthew is a third-year public relations student at Mount Royal University who has spent more time in the beautiful Riddle Library than he has at home. Matthew’s passion for coaching and playing volleyball served as a spark igniting his passion for communication and public relations.
His favourite class he has taken while studying at Mount Royal was Government Public Relations as it provided taught the fundamentals for working in government public relations and government relations. Matthew is excited to work alongside a great staff to deliver a product that encapsulates the excellent work Mount Royal Communications students are capable of.

Erica Leitch – Section Editor and Web Developer
Erica Leitch is the web developer and government public relations section editor for the Western Communication Report online magazine. Leitch is a third-year public relations student studying at Mount Royal University aiming to earn her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies in 2020. To complement her degree, she is taking courses in marketing, economics and international business.
Leitch has work experience in technical writing, project and event planning, research analysis, design development and media relations. While completing her studies, she volunteers with the student-run Public Relations Society at Mount Royal University and Ringette Alberta’s Athlete Advisory Committee.

Mytayla Miller – Section Editor and Social Media Manager
Mytayla Miller is a third-year student studying public relations in the Bachelor of Communication program at Mount Royal University. Miller will graduate in 2020 with expertise in creative writing and social innovation. She has professional work experience with social media, creative writing and project and event planning. Miller volunteers as a member of the Calgary Stampede Agriculture and Western Events Media Committee. Miller is a small business décor owner, where her positive attitude and strong self-motivated communications and management skills developed. Miller grew up in a small town in southern Alberta where she found her passion for event planning within her community. Her strong interest in agriculture has created a dedication to educating consumers about where their food comes from. When she is not doing public relations work, you can find Miller on her dairy farm, travelling to the mountains, shopping locally or behind the camera. Miller’s long-term public relations goals involve becoming her own boss in the wedding industry where her passions of photography, event planning, media relations and décor would collide. She hopes of furthering her agriculture passion by becoming an agriculture advocate.

Carlie Minuk – Section Editor and Volunteer Coordinator
Carlie Minuk is a third year communications student majoring in public relations at Mount Royal University. Carlie’s future professional aspirations reside in the sports and entertainment industry and the not-for-profit sector.
Carlie has acquired many communication and public relational skills as a marketing assistant for Cowboys Casino during Stampede, where she was responsible for event management and music festive pass distribution. She is experienced in conducting marketing research, formulating social media campaigns and the art of story-telling.
Some of Carlie’s academic interests are research, government public relations and crisis communications. When she is not working on academics, Carlie can be found cheering on her favourite team, the Calgary Flames.
